Silkie thread!

I think and agree that I need to step back for awhile and calm down. I apologized that I was in a bad mood yesterday. Not gonna beat around the bush on here sorry. I try not to be rude to others. And I did say that not everyone is like that so anyone taking a personal offense sorry. I know that there are a lot of good people on here. From now on I'll turn the other cheek espicalley with my silkies. I'll go somewhere and ask someone else..

I apologize again..

Ok, on with the show with a commercial!

Keep in mind, that so far as I have seen on BYC, the Silkie people are much more gentle in critiques than some other breeds. If you ask for a critique in the Breeds, Genetics, and Showing threads, you will get a more formal opinion as to how your birds hold up to the Standard of Perfection. Keep in mind, ALL chicks are cute, and ALL chickens are beautiful in their own way. If pets are what you are after, then take the "oh, how cute!" comments and let it go. On the other hand, if you want a more detailed and valued critique on whether your birds are show/breeder quality, then be prepared to get HONEST opinions from seasoned breeders. Keep in mind, it takes just as much money to raise show/breeder birds as it does pet quality birds; the trick lies in finding out the difference.

That all said, I will post a pic of a White Silkie cockerel, pictured at just under 6 months old...and in the MUD! He really does have abundant shank and foot feathering!

I am not particularly fond of White birds, so he has to go. I know it's just one pic, but please give me an idea of how he looks. He has 5 toes on both feet, nicely placed, black skin, and a nice black comb, and nice short back. I will try to get more pics when the run dries out.

Thank you all. I am still learning with the Silkie breed, but he looked pretty nice to me. I noticed in the pic his wings look kind of droopy, something I will have to go check out more in person. I will be aiming for a more tightly held wing with future breedings in most of my birds, it is the one fault I can see. The Blues and Splash though, don't seem to have this problem, and only one of the Partridge cockerels does. Work to do, but think I started off on the good side.

Hold your horses ... this not go as simple as that.
To say it simple (but it is more complicated) for paints you need the gene I^P.
I wrote "paints" under "mystery" colorations.

You want to go from degree 6 directely to degree 1

Lol, that sounds a lot like me:D
