Silkie thread!

Really beautiful chicks!! They look quite a bit like my splash chicks, but pretty hard to tell with cameras and flash, etc.

Sooooo cute!

They really do not look splash to me--I see a somewhat brownish colouring (of course that could be the camera or lighting). What are the possibilities from the parents?

Sonoran Silkies They were supposed to be Blue, Black, Splash, white & partridge eggs. They came from forum member Bargain, I would ask, but I heard she was in the hospital (on her facebook ) and I didn't want to bug her.

No they look pretty much like the picture. I also have one that looks buff, so it may be possible to have that in the mix. I don't know. I live in Mesa, if you are ever wanting to give you expert opinion, maybe I could meet you some where and let you look at them, I have 3 that hatched with that coloring.

I'll share some pictures of my New Year's babies. The 5 bluish ones are cuckoo silkies from eggs I bought, and the 6th is a paint that came from my chickens, that I decided to stick in the bator with the others. Thank goodness it's a paint or it would be really hard to tell from the rest!

Koda really is an awesome silkie! I've never seen a splash quite like that. I have a soft spot for oddballs too!

My understanding is that white may hide several colors, so the combination may be most anything or a mix of colors. Hopefully you will get some advice from someone who has done it or has a solid understanding of genetics.

Getting advice from someone who has "already done it" (made a cross between black and white) is not a useful idea--every white is different; the possibilities from one white bird can be entirely different than from another. White is essentially an unlabeled can--no idea if it contains cherry pie filling, peas, chicken noodle soup (GASP!) or 10W40.
