I don't understand what the tennis ball does. How does it keep the water from freezing?

does it work????

It has for me. The movement prevents surface frost from being created. Some ice does form but you can usually break it up. You have to make sure to have the correct size balls for your waterer. For instance some horse people use soccer balls or multiple rubber balls.

wonder if the chickens play with the ball in the water? it would break up the boredom

ok, this guy is betsy's from Mihalik- i don't think ANYONE could wrangle him away from her... but he is a gorgeous guy!

Do you use regular tennis balls? Just asking because I have heard that the regular tennis balls are loaded with chemicals, thats why dogs shouldn't get the regular tennis balls. Apparently it can ruin their teeth.

Actually they are lavs- gave them baths today, they were real funny melting into the water- get a load of these faces!

Gonzo is a handsome fella. I can't wait till my chicks feather out so I can see how they're gonna turn out. My first attempt at hatching. I have 20 silkies, frizzle and sizzles. Some are getting their wing feathers and it looks like I have 2 frizzles so far, several partridge silkies and I may have a lavender.

What are the differences between frizzles & sizzles?
