I am going to correct myself... another poster was kind enough to PM me that this is indeed a partridge just a dark one.
Also that leakage wouldnt have been the right term as it is on males inly in the hackles. Posting from my phone so that is just a paraphase of the PM.
I just wanted to correct what I said with what was very kindly relayed to me, as we are very new to this I am very grateful for the correction.
We are on the two hr drive back to fair to see bow my daughters birds did and for showmanship.
Okay silkie experts. Just had an AWFUL thing happen. My house bird "Bonk" - so named because my husband dropped the phone on his head when he was a week old and he somehow made it - just got nailed by one of my nasty PR layers. I didn't see it happen, I turned just as Bonk went down. I assume it was right on the noggin but I thought for sure he was dying. He was flailing and gasping and his neck was all twisted. Then his eyes closed and I thought for sure...but he is till hanging in there. I stupidly took him up there to the coop and set him down just for a second but that is all it took. If I knew which red did it I'd be having fried chicken tonight.
So has anyone had this happen and do you think if he made it this far (its been a half our to forty-five minutes) he will be okay?
I gave him Adizone, which is a natura,l organic herbal med for pain/inflammation. He is sleeping right now and he CAN walk and started talking to me. It has alcohol in it (which I diluted as per giving to birds) so he is probably sleepy. I will bawl my eyes out if he doesn't make it. He is so sweet. Here are some recent pictures so anyone can feel free to send healing vibes!!
He sleeps in a crate at night on his stuffed animal - always. And his best friend is a german shepherd dog. He is a special little guy so please keep him in your thoughts today!

Question silkie people...I am trying to join the American bantam silkie club...but there is a question on the form that says...'what type of birds are silkies?'
And I put in chickens...then...bantams....then bantam chickens...and every time the form says I got the 'random' question wrong so it wont let me join???
Anyone know the answer? It is very frustrating...or do I just not know what a silkie is?
