Silkie thread!

Believe it or not, I emailed them earlier today to find out! So there's really no simple way I guess, you just network enough eventually to find people near you!

That's pretty much true! I had my silkies shipped to me from Virginia and I'm in Kansas... so I quit worrying about how close people were to me. It really matters on what is available and what you're looking for color wise and quality. Shipping really wasn't so bad if you close your eyes to the cost of it. LOL!

Here's the link for Ohio National. They usually have at least 6000 entries, if there is one show to go to, that is it!!!!! Love this show!

I have to post on here because I am SOOOO EXCITED!!! I have been looking for a beautiful Silkie Roo to go with my girls and I found one!

He is solid white and very pretty in my opinion. The girl I am getting him from is giving me such a good deal. I am also getting a white hen, a black hen, 2 blue hens, some hatching eggs, and a few more roos that she needs to find homes for. My coop is plenty big and I don't think a few extra roos will hurt. I am so happy! I can't wait until this weekend to go get them.

Chicken Math attacked me last year. I moved to the country and had my father in law and husband build me a chicken coop. I bought a variety of large breeds for egg laying and then I discovered the joys of incubating. I was researching chicken breeds and fell in love with the silkies. I still have a couple of my large fowl chickens but the Silkies are my favorites. None of my chickens use their coop but this weekend I am making the silkies use it. They have been free ranging but they are too slow and delicate to keep doign that. Besides I am tired of having to remove silkies from underneath my car everytime I need to go somewhere at night. :D

I am getting them from Elite Silkies in Durant, Oklahoma www.elitesilkies.com. They are so pretty. She breeds for show I think, but I just want some fluffy bearded beauties. :) She has a pair on the Salmon Project page that I would like to get too but I can't really afford them right now. I will post some pictures of them when I get them settled in.
