I don;t think it is DNA testng--not sure how they sex them, but I've heard of way too many that weren't pullets, that were ordered and paid for as sexed pullets to think they use DNA.

Meh. I could have sworn I found a page that said they did because of the demand, but I'll be darned if I can find it now.................. *sigh* So, it's essentially a crap shoot even if you order pullets unless you get older kids and know what they actually are.

Maybe its just me and I'm looking at it wrong..but I can't make her out. Is she bathing in the sand?

My one hen that's laying right now has about one per day or one every other day when she's not broody

I have two right now that are old enough to lay. One lays every other day and the other lays 2 maybe 3 a week.

My only silkie pullet Topsy started laying 3 29 12 she was 24 weeks old. She laid 22 eggs since that date. Basically she laid an egg every day with the exception of 5 days since she started. And then she went broody 3 days ago.

At what age does a Silkie start laying? I have one that is a little over 6 months old and nothing yet. I know that she is a hen. I have 3 in a coop together. they are all the same age and the other 2 are crowing. I guess I am just being to impatient.......
