The 7 is not the kind just for plants. It has to say poulty and garden. TSC sells it.
I alwasy cover my face when I use it. Someone said to put it in a sock and kinda powder puff them with it and I think that
is a great idea!!! I was trying to sprinke them with it and it seems to go everywere.

No, it IS the same; however, some of the newer sevin products are not as strong, and so I am not sure if it is effective. 5% is the appropriate strength. You can also use permethrin dust or a dog or cat flea/tick spray.

Mites or lice can and will kill the birds. While sevin is not nonp-toxic (it is a poison), it won't kill your birds or have any permanent effects.

Once a month is not enough to get ahead of a problem; you have to break the mite/lice life cycle by treating at least every two weeks (weekly is bettter) until all adults, eggs and juveniles are killed. This is one reason why I prefer using a spray with an insect growth regulator. It prevents eggs and jeveniles from maturing and laying eggs that will continue the life cycle.

I use 2-3 drops of Ivomec on their back between the shoulders. I use the garden type sevin dust and it works fine...I'm fairly certain it's the same %.

I also highly recommend front line spray...but don't spray it on them. Put a drop in their crest and another 1-2 drops just above their vent.

I thought I read that they weren't the same. Sorry my bad!!!

They quit making the 10% Sevin about 2 years ago. I lucked up and found 1 50lb bag left the feed store early last year. The 5% Sevin just doesn't work as good, of course !

I have always heard to use the 5%, but I did use 10% at times, just used less. My inderstanding is that the 5% is also going away. The other concentration is really low--something like .25%, which seems like it would be pretty useless.

Sonoran, what brand spray do you use?

Jen, what a great idea about the sock duster.....that's what I'm going to do!

I have always used Frontline spray, 4 drops one under each wing one behind head and one drop right before gland , before tail, gosh it works!!!!!!By Peter the chicken Doctor, well they have pulled all of it ! Two months until it will be back on the market. I tried everything else on the market and got sick birds and healthy mites (Feather mites) Any of you ever used Adams spray?

I have heard Adams Spray can cause a rooster to be temporarily sterile if sprayed on\
ear the vent, but I do not know if this is true and if it is, not sure how long the effects last.
