Silkie thread!

I''m glad you haven't gotten tired of posting photos of Sherbert. He is getting soooo manly looking! Doesn't he know his fan club is waiting to see his off spring? I bet your hens are tortured souls!!
I've enjoyed all the pictures of Sherbert too!
Einstein at 12 weeks old!

Einstein & Scrambled together. Both 12 weeks old!

LOVE her, as always. & Scrambled is really catching up!
yes there is a very good thread on it! Start reading from the very beginning because they dive right into the color genetics. Also, Silver Silkie has a site dedicated to colors and I think his site is mentioned in the thread.

Excellent advise (all of it.) I started on page one and read through the whole thread, I've learned a lot!

Here is a face shot on one of the white ones. There is small comb and small waddles. This is one I thought was a rooster forever but never got streamers and squats when the rooster attempts. How old is the average silkie before they start to lay or crow? I am just starting to raise silkies. Is there a site that I can go to to explain breeding/colors? I do want some nice silkies who sells/ships eggs?

Now I don't know... that comb is on the large side for a girl.

But from the actions and the age of the bird-- 6 months, no streamers... still going to side with girl for the time being. Keep in mind, I'm not the best at guessing gender! That comb could be the start of it really growing. Mine started laying right around 7-8 months of age.

OH, you have got beautiful babies there! Looks like Elliot is pretty happy to have more fuzzies with him! :) You have a good assortment of colors! They are lovely.

That paint thread is pretty interesting, for sure. Glad you enjoyed it! It will give you the start you need to get your mind wrapped around the paints before you dive in. What color eggs are you hatching?

I got three new sweeties this week. They are still settling in and as such, I don't have a lot of good pictures of them yet, but here is my new splash girl from Dylan Silkies

Here are the three of them:

Splash hen, dark blue hen, light blue roo:

And something I am really excited about is we are 5 days from lockdown on my Cat Dance blue/splash eggs!!
