You should not sell them as lav splits bc you don't no if they are.
They don't look lav to me at all. They sould be sold as a mixed color and told that you don't no.

So im thinking about getting into silkies. Im thinking about buying a nice pair of buffs, but I want to be more involved then just having them and showing them. Does that make any sense?

No???

I didn't think so.

I dbout im going to find perfect buff silkies, because there is on 'perfect' animal out there. So i would probably want to breed them, but I don't want to have a lot of pens to keep pairs/trios/quads, can i still help improve the breed/variety and not be over my head with chickens?

Kasey, Jen is correct. You can not sell those eggs as lav splits since you have no clue if lavender was used in the breeding of the birds you have. They can simply be washed out splashes, actually they probably are, than be carrying the lavender gene. The lavender gene does not express itself in a single dose.

The chances are higher that someone has been breeding splash to splash and with each breeding the splashes became more washed out.
