Silkie thread!

Is it better to have bearded or non bearded silkies. What does it change far as value and desirability at sales
That seems to be a personal preference. I personally like the bearded birds better, but I love the non-bearded just as well. I have this blue pullet, 4 months old now. Non-bearded pet quality but I think she is absolutely beautiful.

Even with that sad little hairdo and her flat back end, wings aren't great. She does have FANTASTIC foot feathers though! lol But I think she's great no matter what. I wish I had a better picture of her, this one doesn't do her justice...

I'm sure mine have flaws of some sort but they are my pets and I love them all!

Same here. So far we've only had pet quality and I think they're awesome. I don't care what they look like.
I did order some eggs from Catdance and those chicks are about a month old now, I'm hoping to get a couple of good birds that I can practice showing with. lol

She is a cutie! Love her color.

Okay, I finally got some quick and dirty photos taken of my 4 month old Silkies. 5 of the 7 are hatched from Catdance eggs. The 2 whites are a couple of weeks younger and from a different breeder.

I'm hoping you folks can help me determine sex - I know someone is crowing in the Silkie pen and I've got to clear those boys out before the Chicken Police show up at my door! I've got a pretty good guess on a few, but need confirmation. Once confirmed, all these boys are going to be going on Craigslist unless any Washington BYC'ers are interested.

I'll post them one chicken at a time so no one gets overwhelmed with zillions of photos!

Thanks in advance for those who choose to help me with this -

First is our Porcelain who pretty clearly is wearing a badge that says "Boy." Correct?

White #1 - I'm guessing about 14 weeks old. Not hatched by me. This bird was part of a trade from a fellow BYC'er here.
I'm thinking it looks a little boyish. What do you think?
