Silkie thread!

Blue - 16 weeks. Sorry for the blown out background. My camera was working hard to see that pretty blue! That comb is saying - what? Help please - boy or girl?

Partridge - 16 weeks. I've got another boy on my hands, don't I?

Partridge close up - And I did not notice until I was editing these photos earlier today that the tip of his beak is broken off! I have no idea how that happened. They stay in their covered silkie pen all day. I haven't noticed anything unusual happening in there. Does the tip of the beak grow back?

Aww, the lavender my 20 year old DD claimed as soon as she saw a photo of her. She named her Lucille. The smallest, most demure of the flock and probably the sweetest. DD had girlfriends over a few weeks back and Lucille fell asleep on one of the girl's laps. I've been certain this one was a girl for a long time. Please tell me I'm right!

White #2 Approximately 14 weeks. Not hatched by me and I don't know who the breeder was! Another that was part of the trade for a blue Catdance boy. I'm on the fence about this one. Boy or Girl?

White #2 close up. Is it possible I have at least one more girl?

And last but certainly not least because I'm pretty fond of this one, my black. 16 weeks and a pretty good looking little chick to my untrained eye. Of course, none of these birds were groomed or posed for their photos. It was just DH grabbing them out of the pen, on the patio table which was kind of a scary experience for the poor babies and me moving all around the table trying to get a decent photo while DH and my Golden Retriever were playing catch just feet away! I finally had to ask DH to kindly NOT throw the ball while I was working with the Silkies as it was just a little bit terrifying for them! Sheesh.

So here *she* is, (I say hopefully), my sweet little black Silkie - what do you think?

Close up - looking girly, right? I've got my fingers crossed!

Very pretty bird :) I don't know on this one...but I would lean towards roo. I've had pullets with big combs though...silkies are so difficult to sex. I would hang onto this one until you're 100% that it's a roo.

Leaning more towards roo...but this is another one you might hang onto just to make sure...

I'm really not sure about this one but there might be a slight chance of it being a pullet. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I LOVE LUCY! lol She should come live with me.

Looks like a pullet also.
The rest of them looked like boys to my eye...an eye that's still working on it. lol

White #1 and White #2 are BOTH boys

BLACK = GIRL

Definitely a boy, the color alone tells its a boy, that tone of red on the wings - thats something you don't see on a female partridge. as for teh beak, it isn't to the quick it looks like, so it should grow back eventually.

I didn't get reviews for my girls so I thought I would repost it. Thanks in advance.

Hate to leave you hanging. I personally dislike evaluating birds from a couple of photos. Hard or impossible to see wings and feet. They are very pretty for sure. I see at least a couple with loose wings and all appear to have long backs which is undesirable but you don't say how old they are so that could change. Except for the first one they have nice crests. They have nice typey stance but all need fuller tails. Hope this helps some. :)

HELP!
My poor little splash baby somehow got in with the turkeys and looks like it got a little bit of a beating. Bad turkeys!

It's right eye is shut, a little puffy. If I gently pull the bottom lid, it opens but I don't dare poke at it's eye too much at this point. It looks like they might have gotten the corner of it's eye, just the skin. I can't tell if they actually got the eye or not yet. I'm hoping not.

And they got it's rump too! It looks like there's a slight cut. No damage to the vent area that I could find, just right by the tail feathers. It's not bleeding. I sprayed some betadine on it in the barn. When I came in, I rinsed the area with water and sprayed Vetericyn on it.

I have the chick in a box in my house with food and water. I'll go and get some vitamins for it to put in the water. I can't see any other damages to it's body. Hopefully there's nothing internal. The chick is sort of dozing off in a box right now. It's not happy with me when I pick it up, it chirps alot. But it's more of a chirp than your typical chick noise, like "PUT ME DOWN!".
I'll keep the chick in the house for a couple of days to see how it does. Hopefully it'll get better. Next I'll go and try to figure out how it got in with the turkies in the first place!

Is there something else I should do? Or maybe should not have done?
