Silkie thread!

Mine went through a stage where their crests looked like bonnets, but they grew out of it. I miss it :(

At what age did they outgrow it approximately? Thelma is around 5 months... I Like the bonnets too! I was just wondering if it would be a fault at a show.
It would be a fault I believe. Not a DQ - but they would lose points.

They didn't get too much into the discussion about the bonnet crest. Maybe we can do that here? How many points would you lose?

Is there such a thing as a cuckoo partridge? I have one of my partridge babies that seems to have a cuckoo barring. She is the only one that I see this with. She is approximately 11 weeks old.

If I see any shade of red at this age, I think "boy". Girls may have a very small bump at this age.

Thanks so much, peepblessed. I looked at one of my known older pullets and while her comb is thin and small, there is a little 1/8" about bump in the middle too. So I see now that girls can have the little bump. But the deep mulberry on my gray's tiny wattles is telling, then, eh? Bummer. "He" is quite handsome and so sweet. Of course!

Here are a few pix; just hatched, few days old, few weeks old, and now, 9weeks. In the very last you can see the little wattles. ???
