Silkie thread!

At three months old they are both WAY too large for the standard.  36 oz is for a cock--a male over a year old.  Cockerels should weigh in at 32 oz, but that would be a nearly grown cockerel, not a 3 month old.  At least 6 months and probably closer to 8 or 10 months.
I have to agree with Sonoran. That is really heavy for 3 months old. Mine hardly weigh much at all at that age.

Peepblessed you are a plethera of information :)

I appreciate the compliment but I mostly quote what I've learned on this thread from people who have been breeding much longer than I. :)

I feel like my wings are one of the best features of my own. All hold them very tight to their bodies. Even at this young age. I really need to work on cushion and backs.

Here is one of my 14 week olds - her wings are very nice and tight to her body.
Sometimes it's just too hard to tell in photos though. Maybe it was too hot out that day.

I have seen birds carry their wings wonderfully but when spread out they look very bad. That is why photos like this don't tell the whole story. :) Love her, by the way! :)

I guess I will just hold onto the little lavender until I locate a smaller one. I would be interested to hear how much your cockerals and pullets weigh around 3 months if anyone does weigh their birds.

She has really nice spread wings. However, I can not handle my huge camera and a silkie who is trying to avoid me doing this at the same time :gig

My fiancé would have to help me with that task! I'll try to remember to do it.

I wish I had a scale that would accurately weigh them. Think my Wii fit would?

Probably need something a bit more precise! I have two of these: http://www.amazon.com/Escali-P115C-Digital-Multifunctional-Chrome/dp/B0007GAWRS/ref=sr_1_16?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1347312015&sr=1-16&keywords=kitchen+scale

I use one in the kitchen, and one for weighing packages for my Etsy business. Next time I am going to put some scratch on the log and then zero it out before I add the chicken so it stays put.
A regular food scale would work right? The ones at the farm store are outrageously priced.

She shipped to me in GA. They were all in tact and packaged very well. She shared with me that the hatch rate could only be 25% because of being shipped. I took my chances as I wanted to try it but I am not using an incubator I am using a broody hen. We will see

I just got mine shipped to FL. I ordered 32. Had to toss two to broken air cells (one also had a massive crack, but was showing development), but both were fertile. Just candled the 30 left a little while ago and except for having to recheck a couple that I wasn't sure on they are all fertile and growing. I have 2 lavenders, 1 paint, 2 blue/splash, 1 white, and 1 black I'm giving another day to see if they are being tossed or not. For such a long trip, I would say that's pretty good :)

She does a great job on packaging, and I would suggest paying the extra few dollars and getting a cold pack to ship with :) Expect to spend a long time unwrapping eggs.
