Calling it in as a stray would work. Does the humane society in your area pick up? Or just keep it caged till you have an opportunity to drop it at the shelter.
ps: take the collar off![]()

Thats horrible jsp28504What a good Dizzy!!! Dog!![]()
I just don't know what to tell you for advice. I will have to think about it. Are you the one moving? Sorry I am having a hard time keeping track of everyone. (I am new on this thread)
no it won't. tell them you caught the dog, have seen the dog wandering around before, and you caught it attacking your birds. The "stray" doesn't have a collar. I just hope dropping him off won't put a smudge on my record if I want to adopt...
Doesn't it just make your blood boil seeing a stray dog after your chickens? Like we don;t have enough predators to worry about besides someone else's pet!@ JSP
does your county or neighboring county has a drop off box at the shelter? we do here (i'm in NC too) I would take the dog and drop it off at the shelter at night, or shoot take it myself during the day and tell them it was in your yard, it doesn't have tags you don't know who it belongs to and your ready to put the dog down yourself because it has attacked your chickens and you've previously lost other chickens and you have to wonder if it wasn't to this dog (even if you know it wasn't its a good way to get your distress and point across)
Honestly though if I had seen the dog after my birds I would have SSS (shoot, shovel, and shut up) i've been there a few times now with troublesome hunting dogs that many of the folks out here own. here the Animal Control will tell you to 'do what you have to do' because all they can do is pick the dog up (some counties they won't even do that) and if they don't have proof of ownership they can't do anything about it unless owners claim the dog at the pound.

also with you moving it shouldn't pose any issues with where you're moving anyway.
What would you all do, its all I can do to keep myself from "culling" it?
Make sure you tell them it was after your livestock. Otherwise it might be adopted out and will just be moving your problem to someone else's flock![]()
Your best bet is to relocate it to a shelter a County or more over, otherwise the owner might locate it and bring it home. Of course, if it should happen to be microchipped, it wouldn't matter where you drop it off.
