When I setup my silkie pen, I planned to add 4-6 silkies.
I'm on 5 now, and I think I'm happy with my little flock.
I have other breeds of chickens too; just wanted a little group of silkies.
However, I know it's going to be hard to resist buying more. lol

Speaking of which, I should go turn them round again. What time am I supposed to stop turning them, by the way? Right now I'm going in 4-5 times throughout the day and evening at random times until I get so exhausted at night I can't see straight.

Maybe Old english bantams?
Alrighty I will check that out and see if I can find some photos of chicks.
So Cute! Sure do look like little bantys.
I'm pretty sure they are bantys as I got them at a bantam poultry show just don't know what kind as these eggs were just left in cages when the breeder packed up and left.

I was thinking Mille Fluer Tiki as I have one but a Golden Laced sounds wonderful also. Well the proof is in the pudding so when these puddings get bigger we will for sure know.

THESE THREE CHICKS ARE MY TWIN GRANDSONS BECAUSE WE TOOK THEM TO THIS SHOW AND FAIR IN CALHOUN, GA. THEY ARE ALMOST 7 YEARS OLD

When I first saw the picture I said to myself that looks exactly like a golden sebright. But then there are feathers on the legs so it can't be. Thats what made me think of the color.

Welcome to Silkieville! Yup, stop turning on day 18, get that humidity up, and lockdown until they hatch. Good Luck.

I thought she was black until I looked at her foot feathering, she is dark....so lovely. What a sweet little face.

I have some silkies one white and one paint I plan on showing come Jan. Currently both are outside w/ their buddies during the day. I have reason to believe the sun is bleaching them out as they have a bit of yellowing in their feathers. I am wondering if I remove them from being out in the sun all day long if that will help w/ the sun bleached coats or am I pretty much SOL. I was planning on moving them to an indoor (out of the sun coop) on Oct 1 and they wouldn't return to the outdoors until my Jan shows are over. Can someone please give me your thoughts on this.

I had this happen about a year ago to one of my Lavender Ameraucana roos where he was bleached out from the sun. I removed him from the sun for 2-3 months and the yellowing fixed itself. I am wondering if it will do that w/ these 2 birds or at least help. I know there are blueing shampoo's out there to and might have to use that come showtime.

Thanks
