x2 LOVE!!I LOVE the color on the last chick! Such pretty babies.
Thank you two for the compliments. I have a couple chicks with that coloring. I'm curious how they will look as they grow up...but oh yeah, I'm not supposed to keep them...I already picked the 3 I'm keeping...but...x2 LOVE!!
x3 ~ I was going to say the same thing. I just think it's so unusual.I LOVE the color on the last chick! Such pretty babies.
Hip Hip Horray!!! Can't wait for pics of these darlings.Twelve new babies so far today, with another 6 pipped/zipping. That leaves 6 that have done nothing so far, but they were only due today, so I'll give them more time.

That would have freaked me out! Hope she's okay.So I was in the other room bathing one of my silkies, and I had my splash in the livingroom. I walked back into teh livingroom and my dog looked to have been licking her, or trying to play with her (she likes to put her mouth on thing's necks), she looked fine so I took a picture of the slobber covered pullet and went back to bathing my other one. Well while she was back in her cage I saw her panting and laying low, I thought she may be ready to lay an egg, she hasn't started yet, but then I realized a small spot of blood on the back of her neck. I thought maybe my dog accidentally scratched her thin skin so I wet her down and checked her over. Nothing. If my dog accidentally plucked a feather would there be a little blood? She looks fine now, though a little wet. Do they get noisy when they are going to lay soon? she will occasionally start a squawking fit, of like "bok bok bok bokawk!" over and over. she is 9, maybe 10 months now.
oh, and here is the slobbery chicken

Oh I want a paint soooooo bad. I was hoping to get one out of the Catdance eggs that hatched. Another day. Hey what two do you breed to get a paint?I GOT MY FIRST PAINT CHICK!

Sorry, I was excited. This is my third time to incubate paint eggs, in the past I've gotten whites, silver partridge and a couple of "off" colors. I locked down 24 silkie eggs and two of my own lakenvelder eggs. Last night when I when to bed, I had a Lak and a blue silkie (BBS eggs), with eight more pips.
This morning I woke up to the Lak and 7 silkie chicks, two of which are paints!!! There are still six more pips this morning (eggs were due today).
Pictures after the hatch is over and everyone has fluffed up.
