This is also good to know. Adams Flea spray certainly is easy to find. lol
Now, what do the pine needles do again?? I remember someone mentioning this pages and pages back. Maybe it was you? :D Is that for the lice?

Love these two shots. lol

Ahhhh.  :love   I just love that.  I will hope if mine is a he, he's a really late bloomer and rarely ever crows.  I've heard about some silkie boys that are quiet.  I might be able to keep him then.  :)

Is your very docile white boy still this way and is he a quiet roo as well?       <...hoping praying...>
My white boy is relocated because I wasn't going to breed him, but I am close with his new mother, and he is not crowing yet and is 22 weeks old :)

Some roosters are quiet, but they are few and far between. My silkies are late bloomers for crowing as well. All colours of boys are late.

I just caught a 6 week old mixed breed cockerel crowing this morning. It was HILARIOUS. He was so proud :gig

Hey! I am curious about the quality of my silkies. I hatched them about four months ago from eggs I ordered online as show quality. I didn't know much about Silkies at the time and have spent a while now researching this bird and reading up on the standard of perfection. I just want to see if anyone think his wings do not look that great.I believe the term angel wing may be used...I know he will probably fluff out a little bit more as he grows but I am still curious whether or not I should sell him as pet quality. Here's a pic:

And thanks for everything guys!

Chickens don't get angel wing. It's a waterfowl thing. His wings look weak in the picture. They should be tight and held like this:

But it could be the heat when the picture was taken. If they hold their wings like that in the winter, you will have an issue, and I would not breed any with weak wings.

Thanks Aoxa. I was thinking they looked weak---or that his primaries folded on top of his secondaries. The sad thing is that if I get rid of this clutch of three(which all have the same problem) then I will not have any silkies left.

Actually, way more loosely!

NOW. :th I do think it was hot in the first image, but they were really loose there! Give them a couple more months. Also note that she does not have split wing. I'll have to take some images of fanned out wings, but it's a tough job when you have to hold the camera and spread the wing

Ha ha! I have one of my white's hatch-mates [a gray from a different breeder] who just has started crowing. It sounds like a sick frog! But he keeps trying.

I love that your white boy is still mute. A silent roo would be heaven!
