And this is the excuse we all use when our significant other asks us why in God's name we are hatching more silkies.

"Because honey.. You need at least 12 to make a silkie pile!"

You're thinking the pellets? My 8 week old chicks are eating them no problem

Instead just get grower crumble. It would be easier and cheaper. My fiancée just did the last feed run and picked up the wrong stuff

they only have one style at the place I go to. it is a more local feed made in the area.

So after reading about your silkie piles Im wondering are they the only chickens do that? Just sounded like it as everyone refered to them as silkie piles not chicken piles LOL

I agree Hatch more nothing better then raiseing silkies

The only birds I have that "pile" up are Silkies. The other, real chickens roost!

I would bathe them tonight. They'll be fluffier on Sunday if you do. But you have to keep them clean tomorrow!
