Silkie thread!

Birds that are disgustingly dirty should be DQed.  I'm not talking about a bird that messed in its cage, but one that was obviously simply pulled from its coop/pen and tossed in a cage and brought to the show without any prep.  Now some birds manage to stay fairly clean, but many do NOT.  One that remains clean may be okay without much or ny prep, but not a muddy/poopy one.
:thumbsup

I think all silkies should be prepped before show. Some smooth birds don't need it. They should at least be treated for parasites before the show. I do it as a preventative before and after. For my smooth birds, I only bathe the crested ones, or any that are visually dirty. Only my Houdans needed bathing (and the silkies).

Some of my first bearded Silkies White, blue, and dark blue pullets are 5 months old. Splash is 6 months old. Blue cockerel is 4.5 months old. Showgirl is 5 months old. I'm wanting to get into showing one day. I hope at least on grows show quality. My splashes have long backs, and the female has hard feathers in her tail. The others came from a lady that raises/shows Shogirls, and keeps Silkies for the Showgirls. Pam

Sorry! Photo overload!
Lovely flock!
Put Cali and Chloe in a "Silkie Nursery" a few days ago, since the babies are hatching soon!

I hate when they share nesting boxes! I plan to just remove the box when the eggs hatch.

And my newest girl, Fancy.
Wow! Really nice nursery!! Love Fancy!

Thanks for all the great comments on my babies!!!

Wow! You're not the only one who mentioned an Earth Quake. I've never EVER had one here. At least that was scary enough to remember. I am a sound sleeper though
