Silkie thread!

Have you tried just wet feed? I thought it would have tasted similar to that. My birds go crazy for wet feed. It's how I mix any medicine in so they consume it in less time than drinking water. IE: Worming, electrolytes, etc.
Also: I won't try it unless I know it won't freeze in the winter. I may just do it for treats. I don't want to have to worry about frozen food on top of frozen water :p

Yes I do feed wet feed sometimes and they like that. Good way to get the ACV in them. Plus I add a little olive oil.
I heard someone say it wouldn't freeze because of the fermenting but I don't know.

Just wanted to show off new pics of my porcelians, they are so cute 1 week old now!

Also I hatched 4 lav splits like this from catdance, all different markings. Will they turn out partridge but carry the lavender gene?

Some fun photos from my grow out pen. (Fun for me anyway...) My flash camera makes everyone look pink... :)

Catdance self-blue/lavender pullet preening

Peepblessed I love your lavender I hope one of my lavenders from catdance is a hen, she is beautiful. Do you have any lav splits from her?

Is the Ivy poisons?
I tried growing it at my last location, but it did not take well.

My mother, the land lord that wouldn't allow chicken for 42 yrs, won't let me grow ivy, either. Hee How old am I now?? Have to obey my Mommy. I call her The Matriarch. She rules the farm "compound" of my house, and my 56 yr old brother who moved down from Chicago (in another house, she has 18 acres) Little does she know, he's planning on getting Leghorns for eggs. :) He's gonna break it to her gently. Hey- here is a pick of Yoshi and Shasta when they were 2 and 2.5 months old. Shasta, I posted her current pic. Yoshi, not. He's a scraggly little thing that hasn't, um, "bloomed" yet. He thinks he's hot stuff, tho. ps- My Showgirl has my Phoenix roo terrified. Thought I'd have to separate when the big ones got big enough to push around the Silkies. Turned out the other way around. There are my 3 random topics in one paragraph. I'm enjoying getting to talk about chickens and share photos. People on Facebook are sick of my chicken pics and rambles.

Repost since I didn't get an answer- How much scratch grains should my girls get this cold season? I live in New england so it will be COLD and I only have the two that live outside. Yesterday I went out to find them looking like chick-sicles, with frost on their crests and backs I was like oh I hope that's not bad! They are fine and waiting for their morning food right now lol. But seriously they looked like jack frost's pets hehe.

Really great photos!! You can't tell by looking if the lavender gene is present.

I don't know if it's poison but none of the animals eat it. The chickens do eat the berries a little but they don't love them. It's awesome when the light shines through on our porch.
