Silkie thread!

Could someone tell me if this looks like a Silkie egg? I have 4 Silkie girls, 2 bantam white crested black polish girls and 3 bantam Cochin frizzle girls that are all about 5 1/2 months old and I can't tell who is laying these eggs. The eggs are about 1oz a piece and seem really big for the size of these tiny pullets, the egg next to it weighed 2.1 oz for reference from a Buff Orpington.

That's from your frizzle bantams is my guess. Looks like my cochin eggs, only smaller.

Thank you so much! When I started getting the little eggs I at first thought one of my BO girls was off because they just started laying as well, then I started getting 1-2 every day and realized it was one of the "little girls".

I know they vary in color(I saw earlier in the tread where someone posted a bunch of different colored eggs), but are silkie eggs generally a little bit lighter colored? Should I expect eggs about that size?

That is good to know about the polish egg looking big for the size. My polish bantam girls are looking more ready than the older polish girl (who is supposed to be a bantam but is way too big) who is 2 months older. I won't be wondering whose egg it is when I find it.

My Polish (LF) thinks she's a Phoenix (LF). Her man will be the Phoenix roo! So no, I won't be hatching those eggs! LOL Those would be some funky chickens.

I love your avatar.... adorable!

ugh. I was letting the chickens play outside of their pen, making sure to keep the Phoenix separated from my Silkie hens. Turn my back 1 second, and he bred one. I took him off of her, and he immediately started to do the mating dance. Does that mean I caught him in time? I hope so. I'm trying to leave the eggs with the hens, hoping they will hatch some. She already has some eggs. Wonder if I'll have some eggs pure Silkie, some half Phoenix? Crossing my fingers on no part Phoenix (LF)
