which part of maine are you in? southern, nothern, east coast? mid?Is it bad that it's 20 outside and i want to fire up the incubator??? I just need to figure out where to put the babies after they hatch....

I have two blue hens, one lighter than the other. The first one definite pet quality. I might try breeding the older of the two (2nd picture) to my splash cockerel depending on what he looks like when he matures just to try my luck with breeding.![]()
Here you can see how they have the dark heads. Is this what yours look like? Normal to blue.
This is the SOP for color blue:
Blue:
Head: Glossy Black
Neck: Hackle- an even shade of clear bluish slate, distinctly laced with glossy black. Front of Neck -- same as breast
Back: Back and Saddle- an even shade of clear bluish state, each feather distinctly laced with glossy black.
Tail: an even shade of bluish slate, each feather distinctly laced with glossy black.
Wings: Bluish slate.
Breast: An even shade of clear bluish slate, each feather having a sharply defined lacing of black.
Body and Fluff: Clear bluish slate.
Legs: An even shade of clear bluish slate, each feather having a sharply defined lacing of black.
Undercolor of All Sections: Bluish Slate

Actually, your non bearded doesn't look too bad. Non-beardeds look different than beardeds, I don't think they are quite up the the quality of the beardeds yet. But I know you should not breed a non-bearded to a bearded, you should stick to bxb or nbxnbI have two blue hens, one lighter than the other. The first one definite pet quality.
