Silkie thread!

Any suggestions or help finding a hen for a little guy that looks like this? I'm going shopping (hopefully) at the Northeast Poultry Congress this month.

I know, he's only about 4 months old in this picture.. Is it too early to plan?

What's the key to breeding for splash? Some people seem to think "splash to splash = trash"...? Is that a common opinion people share or is that just a personal preference for certain people?
I have a blue hen. Apparently she might be carrying lavender because she was sold to me as a lavender but she's a 100% blue. lol The blue with my cockerel would give me
50% blue and 50% splash?
I also have a black pullet growing. That combo would give me 100% blue, correct (black to splash)?
Now I just need a splash hen for 100% splash!?

i would get a dark blue to enhance his "splashiness"

Is this one dark enough?

She looks little darker when fully moulted.

That's the same hen with with her little babies in the summer. And who knows, that might be the cockerel on her back.

I would try for close to almost black. The really dark splashes tend to do well at shows

If I understand correctly, Lavender is also called "self" Blue. My Splash Orp rooster is from a self blue English line from HinkJC. My breeder bred the self blue to an American dark Blue to get the good dark splash. You can see pics of him on my profile.
I could never understand the self blue term. Is it the same thing as lavender or is self blue a blue bird that carries the lavender gene? I don't get it.
