Hopefully they'll be there tomorrow.
I can ship across the country east or west with no problem.... sending or receiving going north or south always takes longer.

That's so weird isn't it? USPS is just weird period IMO. They ship their express mail via FEDEX planes a lot. Which makes me think ummm wth is going on with fedex? They won't ship live animals but they'll ship live animals if they are coming thru with a USPS on them?

When they first got the contract with the PO, they refused to accept live animals. Breeders, exhibitors and hatcheries made a HUGE stink about it, and basicaaly forces the PO to follow their rules. FedEx was left with the option of carrying mailable lives on their planes carrying mail, or losing their contract.

I have had several birds whose tags didn't get scanned during their trip. I think the live birds distract or intimidate some people in the PO ( this has happened with every rooster shipped ). Find out the route your birds take to get to you. I found that if I had the birds shipped to a friends house 5 minutes away ( but different zip code) the birds went through one less sort facility and arrived a day earlier. I also ship eggs out of the other county's PO an extra 15 minutes of driving and the eggs arrive a day sooner.

I hope he arrives safe and sound

Yay!! He's here!! I got to go pick him up at the main post office that's next to the airport tonite at 10pm. They made a special accommodation for me since they knew I was so upset in general and worried about him. Whew I'm so happy and he's beautiful!! Now just gotta get thru two more shipments (tomorrow and next week) and I'm done for awhile getting any chickens sent to me through the mail. Too much stress for me and them! I'll hopefully be hatching out some fuzzies soon as well, can't wait! Tomorrow is lockdown for my first set I have 15 that looked good on day 15 hoping for a good hatch

The same here. I actually live closer to the Syracuse PO hub. If I use the PO for my zipcode, it adds a day of shipping. I mailed out silkie eggs at 5:00 monday and she had them in western NY the next morning! Not too shabby!

Priority normally takes 2 days unless it has to go through Memphis. I sent a rooster to Washington state via Express... she had him the next day. I got chicks from Alabama -also Express- it took 3 days! Didn't work out too well for a third of the chicks & they had no record of amy scans past Memphis, so there was no way to track them. I was told that once the "package" is in Fedex's hands, they use a different barcode system which makes it impossible to track.
