Silkie thread!

Silver partridge is shown under the grey standard
You really got some lovely birds. What a great blessing!
Am I seeing white stripes on that back? Give them to days and you will know if they are partridge. :)
Beautiful babies!!
That is a cool looking grey.

You must be very excited about these babies. Post us pictures of the little one with the partridge markings, once they feather in!

I can't wait until spring to breed my splash cockerel. I have a blue hen and a black pullet for him and plan on finding another blue hen to add to the group.
Yes, 2 of them have very faint "chipmunk stripes". Is there a chance they could still end up light-blues? Peepblessed, what should I be watching for in two days? Penciling?
I am very excited about these little chicks. I just hope they still fit into my goal for a BBS pen AND that they are all girls! That isn't asking too much is it?

Okay, what do you guys think about my black pullet? She's 5 months old.
I'm so glad those wings are starting to tuck in finally.

These first four pictures I took before her bath. She had poop all over her back because miss genius sleeps under the little ladder in the coop where some of our flock roost....and of course gets pooped on at night.

What is the likelihood of her getting more feathering when she is only 5 months old at the moment? There were a lot of pins coming out so I'm thinking there's some hope?

Clean feet after the bath.

Little snack after their bath. I had a couple of boiled eggs left in the fridge that needed to go...

I didn't get any wing pictures. The girls were being impossible! It's difficult to get wing shots by yourself at times. lol
I'll take more pictures of both of the girls tomorrow when they are clean and fully fluffed.

Yes, pin feathers mean more feathers. You will see a little change at least in your pretty girl. Wings look good. Don't expect much more foot feathering unless she's lost some in the mud.
So that's the consensus, cockerel? Is the color a give away too? The vibrancy of the reddish?
Definitely a cockerel

They can still turn blue (you will know about 5-6 weeks) but if they do you will likely have problems with gold leakage. Are they related to the girl in your avatar?

I really don't know if it's possible for a chick that came out with the chipmunk markings to turn out blue. Hopefully someone else will know.

I'm pretty sure some went in the mud. It's been a mudpit here and then everything froze. But I wasn't expecting to see much more feathering at 5 months. A little would be nice.

Here are a few more of the Craigslist group I posted yesterday First is the grey from Bobbi Porto (I think I have it right) The only boy beardless black girl.. Bearded black girl..
Wow, beautiful birds! My favorite is the black bearded hen! She's beautiful! I'm hoping to get Black, Buff, and Partridge Silkies this Spring!

Just to jump in, it is possible! I had two little chicks hatch out last March both chipmunk colored and one turned out partridge and one a beautiful blue!

The two in the front, the one in the back was a self blue. The one that turned blue is on the left, the right one stayed partridge

My Blue Girl (She is also a frizzle)

And the Partridge Boy (Also frizzled)

The partridge in my avatar "could be related" to the splash daddy. They are hatchmates. The eggs=chicks were taken from 3 different BBS pens (local breeder) with many different roosters and at least 30 different hens (all blue/black or splash). I did have red/gold leakage with several of the chicks from that hatch, but Mr. Puff and Leo Pierre were clean of any leakage so I kept them. Mysty Blue (the momma) is from shipped eggs out of a blue/black pen. Both breeders said they occasionally get partridge.

So, will they become a blue partridge like Cinnamuffin (in my avatar)? Will they become more brown and less blue? I could totally deal with more accidental beauties like her!

This is Cinnamuffin as a chick (in the front/right side). She looked like a true partridge from the beginning to me. She has a lot more brown and stronger chipmunk markings.

Sorry about all the questions. Just when you think you can handle a BBS breeding pen some other color pops up and mixes things up. I appreciate any input or experience with a blue chick with chipmunk markings. Oh, and I'll keep showing updates if you are interested (like I'm doing on another thread).

Oooooh, so the above hen is the chick on the left side of the first photo? I love her coloring as it's more of a light blue. Thank you for sharing her picture....it gives me hope of getting some true blue silkies. I really wanted to name them things like "Ash", "Ice" or "Blueberry"-LOL

Yup, she is the chick on the left. And I almost sold her too! She looked really ugly as a teenager, no head poof and just scraggly looking. Decided to hold onto her just because she was frizzled and overnight she filled out. And now she is my best broody, so you really never know! And now I have a chick from her and my Cuckoo rooster and it has hatched out all white. Just when I thought I was starting to understand genetics
