Silkie thread!

Okay, you guys are helping me greatly in sorting out my hatch from this weekend. I had some chipmunk babies hatch from my new black pen and I was totally befuddled! I was thinking I had mislabelled some of my partridge eggs or something...now I'm thinking that one of my "black" hens just might be blue! I also had black babies hatch, so I'm assuming that my roo is black/black...right?

So aside from having a porcelain project when I get a house, I want to also try putting the silver lacing of my polish onto a silkie, like a reverse paint. I think it will be a fun project.

The partridge in my avatar "could be related" to the splash daddy. They are hatchmates. The eggs=chicks were taken from 3 different BBS pens (local breeder) with many different roosters and at least 30 different hens (all blue/black or splash). I did have red/gold leakage with several of the chicks from that hatch, but Mr. Puff and Leo Pierre were clean of any leakage so I kept them. Mysty Blue (the momma) is from shipped eggs out of a blue/black pen. Both breeders said they occasionally get partridge.

So, will they become a blue partridge like Cinnamuffin (in my avatar)? Will they become more brown and less blue? I could totally deal with more accidental beauties like her!

This is Cinnamuffin as a chick (in the front/right side). She looked like a true partridge from the beginning to me. She has a lot more brown and stronger chipmunk markings.

Sorry about all the questions. Just when you think you can handle a BBS breeding pen some other color pops up and mixes things up. I appreciate any input or experience with a blue chick with chipmunk markings. Oh, and I'll keep showing updates if you are interested (like I'm doing on another thread).
Here are the pictures of mine at hatch and 10 days and then 4 months. It's the chick on the left.

She is over a year now and has gotten a little brown in her hackles. I'm using her to raise blue partridge. :D

Update picures of my Silkie chicks that are officially four weeks old today. They still look like one female and three males.

Little Miss Peggy

Mr. Bigfoot

Mr. Fluffcheepster

No name yet. Vaulted skull and the most alpha chick of the four. Likes to roost on my finger.
My camera was acting weird so the images are as fuzzy as these babies.

Four weeks??? How can you tell the boys from the girls? I'd love to have some tips for my babies to hatch Thursday :)

When is it ok to put the younger silkies in with the older? The younger ones have quit chirping like biddies and sound like a adult chicken now. The reason I am using this as reference is bc I don't know their age.
