You incubate them in cartons??
Why?
How do you turn them?
I can see how they wouldn't roll all over the place.

She has light skin. They should be totally dark at hatch.

For those that feed FF, how do you feed it with larger groups? I have 13 in a pen I am feeding it to and I find myself feeding them 2-3 times a day because my feeder is not big enough. I tried a gravity feeder but the food just gets stuck in it!

Well since silkies are the only thing in that pen, I am sure she is a silkie......

Maybe she will darken up? I know some animals get colors later. Maybe some silkies just need some time to get their colors

I have 140 birds. I use 10 feet of vinyl gutter cut in 2 so there are 2 feeders. I also use heated dog bowls for groups up to 30. You could use that for the FF. Depending on what breed of birds you are feeding.


This one holds enough feed for 4 turkeys and three roosters for over a day. Turkeys eat a whole lot more than any chicken.

Wow, okay I stand corrected. I've never had them hatch light and turn dark. If they hatch light they stay light from what I've seen

MY BABIES ARE HATCHING! I heard pips this morning and one egg has the triangle (that little first crack)!

Unfortunately there are only 8 of the 30 I bought But it's better than nothing! I think it was the mail. I just hatched some of my silkie eggs and I got a great hatch rate. Oh well, nothing can upset me too much since I know they are hatching right now!!!

Hopefully I can get them as tame as some of yours. My 3 silkies I have right now are semi-tame. Only one lets me pet and pick her up. I guess I will have to buy mealworms from the PetCo... I bought those dried ones from TSC and my older ones didn't like them! Not even as chicks!
