Silkie thread!

Now that my M Best Silkies are about 8 weeks old, the one that we thought was Buff is looking more like it is going to be Porcelain. You said her Buffs seemed light, that may be why. She has the Buff(light) coloring with lots of cream color underneath. The Partridge I have may have the Cream coloring under too, she is not fully feathered in yet as she is only 6 weeks. I am gonna try and get some new pics up here this weekend. Plus I want Mummsy to look at my Blue next to my Black to see if she sees boy or girl in the Blue
Yeah I'm noticing a slight change here as well with only having mine for a week.. I had 2, what I thought she called buff, but now one has white wing feathers.
.

I see the look of the shell change in 24 hrs
I doubt it's the cold unless you aren't collecting them morning and night. Did you check fertility before setting the eggs? Some roos will only breed some of the hens.
Heart-breaking. I'm so sorry this happened.
Cute chick but too early for most evaluation.
Yeah, thought so. I'm surprised how mature she/he looks at it's age.

Honestly I think her age is starting to affect her, she is thinking about stopping breeding/showing. It is getting to be too much she told me. But she means well.
She's super nice though.. I wish I could take over for her..

My M Best Gray Silkie pair are five and a half months now. I'm thinking they are very light Grays. They are changing in color though. They are getting prettier.
I hope M Best attends the Spring show in Monroe in March. She is such a wealth of information and the nicest lady. I would like to get more birds from her before she retires.

Hey TurtlePowerTrav! I would love to look at images of the Blue next to the Black. Post lots of comparison full body shots of both. My favoritess game is to play 'Guess the Sex!' Hah!

Any opinions on my silkie, Sandy? Gender is unknown and she/he is 10 weeks old ^-^

My guess is pullet. Can't see her toes or eyes but just a hunch she is a girly girl. Any behavior clues when she is in the flock? That would be telling. The shrinking Violet in the crowd? Stays back from the feeder and eats last? Bullied by the known females in the flock? Every little clue helps in the guessing game. Have you posted baby chick pictures of Sandy? What does your gut tell you? Comparison pictures side by side are helpful. If she is a he you can laugh at my guess.

I had to coop up my Silkies up today, which is a real shame, bc even though the sky is grey it's not all that cold out. I let my biddies out this morning, gave them their normal "breakfast" treat then went back inside to take a shower. As I was getting dressed after, I heard a chicken rukus. When I went outside to see what was up, I found my neighbors cat playing tag with them

This same cat has cleaned all but 5 of my beautiful koi out of our ornamental pond, pees down the winshield of my car and constantly craps in my flower beds- I have absolutely had ENOUGH! I found him on my porch yesterday marking the side of my house, right next to the front door! I can't tolerate him anymore. So, tonight I'll set a nice can of tuna in my have-a-heart trap for him. Then I'll drive him to the furthest animal shelter possible since said neighbor works at out local shelter. Which is probably the reason why she has 14 cats and 4 dogs! I've never had a problem with any of the others, but this cat has been a terror since she brought it home (not to mention it always has nasty, runny, goopy eyes). My DH is going to build a nice covered run for my Silks, but for now they're stuck with what they've got. Why? WHY?!?!?!?!?!
