Geez! Where do you guys find these birds??

Luck! Out of 11, only 2 females. Only 2 nice quality (both the whites) Picked up 2 Splash on Craigslist

. Those two have faults too.. The lady whose line the whites came from can take credit here- I didn't know if she would want me talking about her in an email (C.D) I didn't purchase the whites directly from C.D, but got them in a round about way from someone else. Been trying to hatch out some Cat Dance eggs, but failed (mine and Georgia Power's fault). Thanks :)

The white is a Catdance 'chick'?

That's exciting because I have a splash cockerel growing. He's about 5 months old now. I'm sure the whites have more type, but still. I can't wait for my splash to mature!

Thought I would show off some of the girls.

Someone went broody. My friend gave me 2 duck eggs yesterday and she is a happy little broody.

My partridge

Buff and White
Little Buff has a cross beak. I clipped a little off with dog clippers but not sure how much I should clip off.
So pretty! Trim beak a very little at a time and stop if you draw blood.
Thanks Tina. It's really interesting.
x2!
Wanted to share with you three babies from my calico project pen. All 3 have the same parents.

and my personal favorite....

Close up of the last one

I am culling babies hard from this pen. Gave away 3 yesterday to a friend due to toe spacing. 1-2 more going this weekend, which will leave me 8 babies to grow out a little.

Here is a slightly older one from the same pen

Such cute chicks!
Yoshi today - going on 8 months.
Gorgeous!
My new blue hen looks like she's settling in pretty good.
Unfortunately, she's stuck in a small cage for quarantine so I take her out every day and let her roam around the utility room so she can stretch her legs (and wings).

Now she just needs a name!

The must have butt fluff shot. lol And my little black pullet in her quarantine pen creeping around in the background.

This one has the sniffles.
She's looking perkier today! Beautiful!!

Those are terrible numbers! :(

I bought mealworms last night and started "taming" my week old silkies.  omg what a laugh!  They learned pretty quick that my hand provides tasty treats:ya
Now they come to my hand when I put it in there.  They run around like they're on fire.  :weee It's hysterical!  I'm going to try to get a video.

I'd like them to accept being handled, should I be picking them up and grabbing them too?

lol i did this one time with about 15 chicks lol in about a week everytime i opened their cage i had baby silkies jumping and pecking at me while i tried to explain to my cousins that silkies were very " friendly" yea overly

My little girl who has dry skin hasn't improved. Her wattles and face are still very dry. I am leaning toward favus now. I am planning on going to the store and get some antigungal cream. Once applied, when should I see any result? I know it's pretty contagious, but the other ones don't seem to have it. Should I treat them just in case?

these are my 2 new silkies i got at the Northeast Poultry congress they were unsexed so i am not sure what gender they are....i think one is a male and the other the female but who knows lol

No Catdance , yet. My Catdance eggs didn't hatch because the power went out 3 times during incubation. Gonna try again. This white is from Cathleen Duckett's line. Very pretty chickens, she has.

Howdy! I have to admitt~I'm guilty of lurking

..I've not gotten my silkies yet but I plan on getting them in April. I have to say you all are making it very hard to resist the tempation on going on an impulse buy
barnie.gif
. But I must resist!! I don't have a set up for them yet, but plan on getting it started very soon..

Now if I may...can I ask if you all will share some of there coop designs with pictures that have worked for you. I know basically of what I want to set there coop/run up for them because I plan on breeding them in their own seperate coop/run in another part of the yard. I have learned so much from lurking

. I think if I can see what you guys have done with your coop/runs that it will give me a good jumping off point. Thanks Everyone!

I am starting my pallet coops for my layers and Silkies in Feb. If you want to see progress, I will be updating my "My Coop" page.
