these are my 2 new silkies i got at the Northeast Poultry congress they were unsexed so i am not sure what gender they are....i think one is a male and the other the female but who knows lol

well right now i have a place set up in the house for them until it gets warmer outside. They are only out of the pen when i am with them but they don't have run of the house

does anyone know how I can tell who's eating the eggs?

My new blue hen looks like she's settling in pretty good. Unfortunately, she's stuck in a small cage for quarantine so I take her out every day and let her roam around the utility room so she can stretch her legs (and wings). I love the fluffy butt pictures! Now she just needs a name! The must have butt fluff shot. lol And my little black pullet in her quarantine pen creeping around in the background. This one has the sniffles.

Observe them doing it, or blow out the inside of an egg and fill with yellow mustard. When they taste it they don't like mustard(so I have read). You could even use food coloring in the mustard.

If they don't like mustard then you wouldn't know who was eating it because it wouldn't be obvious. That may stop them from eating the eggs though. I would think to find out who is doing it, fill it with plain yogurt. Silkies get it all over their faces and you would find out who it is. But yeah to deter them I would put something they don't like in there.

I got on here just for that purpose- I saw 2 silkie pullets eating eggs I read to give them crushed oyster shell to give them more calcium, but what if they like the taste?
