Silkie thread!

Thank you - I did snap some foot pictures.
The non-SG - nice toes?

And the SG - the toes are not connected at all (hard to tell in the photo), but the one toe on each foot is so close to the 5th toe. Is that a major issue?

Thanks for the help - I am learning as I go!
Excellent feet in the first photo. The second is not bad. Those toes will likely spread some. My pink toes always darken in a few weeks.
I went out to check on her again, she was laying on the egg. I had to pry her out of there, she was laying on it like a load of bricks LOL. she ate and then went back on it, so I went and got the only silkie egg I had that I was saving for the incubator and gave it to her. She's coddling it.

I picked her up and felt around, I don't feel any egg at all in there. this follows her pattern though, lay eggs for approx 2 weeks, then go broody. Just she normally gets grumpy if you go near her and she isn't. so weird! could it be because I have roosters now?
I have not had one leave the eggs but I have heard that it happens. I have had them hatch in the winter without problems.

Need input/advice...
My 2 week old partridge silkie was laying down gasping for air. I picked it up and helped it calm down and it seems better. It's just been a little wobbly the past 15 minutes. I had their heat lamp moved up for Afew minutes while I cleaned the tub and changed water and food.. Could that be the cause? Or maybe stressed out from me moving things around? The other 6 chicks are perfectly fine..it's moving around much better after I put the lamp closer to them..

Thanks - I searched old threads about the pink on the toes this morning, it seemed like the general consensus was that it should fade in the first few weeks. So hopefully that's what happens with the SG! They just hatched today - the pics were taken straight out of the incubator - so they are brand new :)

I haven't shown, but am thinking about giving it a shot at some point...
If they were just hatched, it's very possible that the pink will go away.

You should try the shows! I'm taking my fluff balls to our first show in April. Very excited about it!

I dont' know what is going on,. SHe's still sitting in the nest, but no egg. She isn't unhappy if I touch her, she just lays there. I gave her an egg and nothing, she just looks at it. :( You think she's egg bound? should I give her a bath?
We have hens that do this all the time. They go broody and they don't really mind if you touch them or pick them up. Right now I have two girls thinking they should sit on some eggs. lol Then again, I've never had a hen go egg bound so I wouldn't even know what to look for. I better read about it!

A frizzled silkie I have...

A few of you here use fermented feed. I thought you'd appreciate this picture. Hehehee

**Note it doesn't have a scissor beak. It's just the angle + there is a seed that gives it that illusion**

I can't imagine what caused this but definitely not moving the light for a few minutes. I do it all the time and they do get a little upset but no panic attacks. Hope it's alright.

I keep checking on it and it seems fine... It was really strange and startled me :/ I'm wondering if maybe the only 4 week old chick I have in there ran/knocked over the partridge.. I know that sounds really stupid, but it really has me puzzled wondering what happened!

Here are some more pictures. The last two chicks were fathered by some of my large fowl boys. (poor hen!) You can see the middle chick ended up sired by a barred plymouth rock. It looks blue barred. Very strange. Last one here is fathered by a naked neck rooster, as he is the only boy I have who carries dominant white (which this chick shows - black dots on back too).

First chick is first generation sizzle x silkie. It does appear to be a frizzled silkie and not a second generation sizzle. Let me know what you think on that theory :)

If the chicks were scared they may have piled on top of the little one, smothering it?
