Silkie thread!

I have people meet me at my work. my boss has gotten used to it

today I had somebody pick up a wheaten maran cockerel ( the only maran I had) and they gave me 30 wynadotte eggs. I have thought about micro chipping some of the birds. has anybody done this ? If you buy 25 at a time you can get chips for about $12 each.

As far as hatching it's been horrible! I've had some hatch but out of almost 100 eggs set I've got 15 chicks

I think I ran my humidity too low during days 1-18 and they ended up with too big of an air cell to hatch. Idk really... I just know that I had tons of fully formed chicks that didn't pip and died in the shell. Disappointing big time.

That stinks!!!! Sorry, I havent had good luck hatching either, but I want to get some more buffs and blacks, either chicks or breeding stock. Maybe someone can point me in the right direction?

I think the best bet for my situation is to meet someone out in public. I'm kinda paranoid to start out with so I don't like strangers coming to my house. I just make sure to send lots of pictures in advance to the buyer to make sure they know what I'm offering then set up a place to meet in public. Usually a parking lot to walmart or something. After hearing the horror stories I can't even imagine losing a bird to illness or theft ugh!

Today was pretty hectic. A friend of mine gave me 10 possibly fertile silkie eggs to put under my 4 broody hens. One adorable little splash baby hatched this morning so I had to get a brooder box set up and decided to bring in the two best broodies and let them finish the hatch without being disturbed by the rest of their coop mates (including a very enthusiastic roo, HA!). So far, she's the only one hatched. No pips from the others. Friday is day 22. She is simply adorable! Pictures to come, tomorrow if all goes well. I don't know what I'll do if she's an "only chick"

If you have to judge him based on quality would it be PQ, BQ, or SQ?
