Could anyone please help me figure out this lil silkies gender? Its 3 weeks old and the largest of all the silkie chicks its age. I was hopping it would be male because I like my birds to be nice and hardy. If its female thats ok too lol, but i want it to be a roo

Silkies are different than most bantams, they are almost IMPOSSIBLE to sex before 2-3 months and even then most won't know until they crow or lay an egg. This one could go either way. You will have to post a picture when it's older.

Ok, here are my very precious babies from "peepblessed". I love them so much and they are growing into beauties!! I wish I knew if they were girls or boys. Didn't matter really, but I am dying to know

hatched her from a white hatchery silkie and a blue pet quality showgirl I know she's not super good but considering her parents I got lucky

she's my baby she's so little, the size of my 4 month olds and she's already 2 years old
and this is my rooster from three cedar silkies

My guess would be cockerel because of the pointy feathers on its tail but as I said it is just a guess.

Macho, having a manly dirt bath. His butt fluff has been getting steadily bigger and thicker. I think it's competing with his chest now, which is a feat.

I've had some very obvious boys at a very early age. As early as 1 month old.

Now after saying that.. The chick is still too young. Just wanted to mention that it is not impossible. Especially if you have been raising silkies a long time. Jamie Carson has been for many years (15-20) and he says he can sex them as early as week 4 - and sometimes even week 2.

I agree with you there Sanna. Would be awesome to sex them that early. I posted a pic here and asked him on the same chicken - and he was the only one to get the gender correct.
