Silkie thread!

Well, A big cheer for Catdance!

I had a 100% hatch rate! 18 out of 18! The last one hatched...day 22 this morning! Amazing babies! Hard to get anything done when there is cuteness overload in the brooder!

I have one baby that looks like maybe spraddle leg? She came out of the bator that way, so not from a smooth surface. One leg sticks out the side. I have never dealt with that before, but have looked at and will implement the bandaid method. If anyone has further advice I would LOVE it!
Sports tap works better than band aids. No fear of breaking a leg trying to get that thing off & no feather lose. Make it same spread distance as you would a band aid. Good luck with the babies.

Awesome! You're not that far from me I'm up in Paso Robles. I have hatched two orders of catdance eggs also had a great hatch rate though not as good as yours. You will not be disappointed they're amazing especially her lav and porcelain pens. What colors did you hatch?

This is the perfect thread for me!! I just got some chicks. And I think they are adorable!
I show cattle, lambs, and turkeys. So I thought HEY! might as well show silkies! But I don't know where? I live in Texas and our BIGEST livestock show is the Houston rodeo. Do y'all know if silkies show at HLSR? I'd love to show my baby's!

I hatched 4 white, 3 Blue splash, 3 lavender (one of those is the one with the leg issue), 1 Paint, 2 Porcelain, 1 Buff, 2 partridge, 2 black. They are absolutely stunning!

I am trying to figure out how to tell if the leg issue is tendon, or splay leg? When I stretch the leg I do feel a bit of a snap, making me think it is tendon. Ahhhh, So much to learn...very fast!

Does anyone have a pic of a 7 wk old blue roo they could post? I have suspicions about my 2 blues but I can't post pics from my nook and my laptopis out for repair
I couldn't find a good one at 7 weeks, but here's my blue roo at almost 11 weeks... just a point and shoot camera on this shot so not the clearest. First one out in the snow and did a quick halt.

And here he is at about 15 weeks

And a close up of my white pullet and red roo so you can see the difference in their head feathering and faces...

Here are their baby pics too...

Nori has another egg coming

please let her lay it easily! It feels small and it's still far in there but I could feel it. No mess please! She's still eating fine and putting up a stink for her meds. I have been giving her only a tiny bit of food and less than 10 hours of light so I hope it stays a small one and won't put a strain on her ovaduct and vent...
