What do you guys use for feeders?
I cleaned my coop today and discovered that there was a TON of feed mixed in with the bedding. I swear, there was almost more food than bedding.Such a waste. This started when I switched them off the pellet to a crumble and mixed some other goodies in there. I think the birds are having a party in the feeder now, looking for those good pieces, and there's food everywhere.![]()
We have these dog feeder looking things, which is totally asinine in my opinion.
Sort of like this. I don't know who came up with this idea but I'm changing it for my birds at least!![]()
I'll have to take a trip to the feed store this weekend and I'll check their feeders while I'm there but I thought I'd ask what you guys find to be a good idea for feeders and NOT wasting food.
Quote: I think you mean ounces, not grams. Grams are what you measure weight of eggs.
HELP!!
i posted last week about a 10 wk old chick with eye issues... They were swollen and sealing shut.. I've given antibiotics along with flushing it's eyes with saline for a week and a half and still no improvement :/ it is also half the size of its siblings.. I don't know what else to do.. It is separated from the others, eating/drinking normal and still has its vision..
Love your set up! Your girl from the first picture looks like she is non bearded.
So happy for you.Almost time to put the eggs in the batorI could put them in tonight as long as it's stablized. Seems to be at the right temp now after a bit of tweaking and I found a hygrometer to use. Put it in there now. I did put a wet sponge and the wells have a little water in them. So i'm getting some mixed answers(or I just am not comprehending
) , what should the temp and humidity be at the different day marks?![]()
I think Peep mentioned once to add the bator in the bathroom too.I have read people put the still air bators in closets to keep temps from fluctuating. And putting extra sponge in should raise the humidity more. I would try until you know for sure what works. I would hate to see you loose eggs
I add theur feeder on top of big cement blocks. They barely waste any food. What do you guys use for feeders?

So Pretty!!!!!
I like her a lot too!
They seems so relaxed and cozy... makes me want to snuggle with them.
I am glad someone found something for that little gal. I will get some too in case something happen in the future. The best stuff that I've used for a crusty/swollen/goopy eyed chick is Vetericyn Ophthalmic Gel (from the feed store) _pam
