This one most likely won't get feathers on it's head, it looks mixed as well, it has a single comb =/ Most feed store chicks, at least silkie chicks, are only pet quality so you won't see the fluffy poofballs coming from there

If you want a fluffy poofball, try craigslist.

Silkiechick93, I think most people around these parts assume everyone wants to show their birds.

she is a fine little silkie and I'm sure she will feather out with more of a fluff. All of my peeps are in that weird transition phase where they are getting adult feathers. It truly is an ugly duckling experience. I have noticed with my silkies that their show quality features don't impact their personalities one bit! Enjoy your peep!

okie dokie, Thank you, K Epp, for being nice about it. She's still my baby and I wouldn't trade her, she's such a great chick. She kind of has a little fuzz on her head, could she still maybe get her hair? She looks like a little vulture right now, she's still getting in her adult feathers . my grandmothers Black Giant chick got curious d: I just love her. What a doll!

Ok, I got the Poly-Vi-Sol how much do I give and how long? Is 4 to 5 drops a day right? And straight out of the bottle not watered down right? And I'm assuming I need to stop the electrolyte and vitamin pack in the water? Thanks

Well after a stressful hatch, here are my new Catdance babies. One buff, one lavender, and one partridge(??) It hatched out of an egg marked B/S, so I have no idea, maybe a miss marked egg?? Plus a Paint chick I bought today

these are the two white silkie chicks I just hatched this Spring.. They are living in a brooder in our garage but they like to come inside every once and a while to nap on me or climb all over me and play

Can someone tell me when a silkie chick would start to get its topknot? I bought my silkie at my local Tractor Supply before Easter and s/he still does not have one. Could anyone help me out? I can post pictures if needed.

Mine unsual start getting a crest at about 7 wks. Some times sooner. Don't give up!

Ok thaks for the help you guys, this is so heartbreaking seeing him trip all over with the foot thing on , when should I take it off? Can I wait till I take it off before I put the other one on? It's the cutest one I hope it lives. The other chick pecked it in the head real hard made me so mad.

He shouldn't be tripping. You might try trimming some off. Maybe it's too big.

Picked me up a Catdance Splash Hen today at the Poultry Swap I went to today. Good type, foot feathering and great toe placement. She was hatched last summer. And boy was General Tso(5mo Blue cockerel) trying to get busy with her.

She's adorable =) But she looks more like a Silkie/ Polish cross or something like that, she is lacking the silkied feathers. But still adorable!

Give 2-3 drops, un-diluted, in beak twice daily for 2-3 weeks. And I would stop the other vitamin treatment.
