It's a bit hard to see, but I think that is a rooster
I had a bantam Cochin hen that lived with my Silkies. She would beat the crap out of the boys if they got out of line. It was nothing bad, some feathers went flying but no blood was ever drawn and no one got hurt. She'd just put the boys back in line right where they belong. So "snowball" crowed, and is now living with me. But has anyone ever seen a hen try to be dominant over a roo? Ice is standing over him and even jumped on him and pulled some feathers out! Is Ice really a girl? She kind of looks manly, but she has NO comb whatsoever or streamers. It is completely flat and smooth, with two miniscuel little horns on top. She's about 8 months old I think, the roo is a lot bigger than her and only 4 months old. Is she just a Bi**h? lol![]()
Happens here ALL the time, especially with younger males. The rooster may rule the YARD, but the hens rule the coop and the rooster. The boys are allowed to rule the yard because the hens have too much real work to do, and they need to give those darn boys something to keep them occupied.
HAHAHA!!! Made my day! I found this video on poofsilkie.com
Quote: Why not just interact with them while mama is raising them? Then you can let her raise them the normal 6 weeks to 2 months that is natural.
Quote: Fantastic. I think I'll order an Introductory Pack and let the girls give them a try.
