Silkie thread!

I have so many questions on my growing chicks! I have four. I have one that has a really shiny blue 'ear'. I also have 3including the blue ear one, tht have what I would ASSUME to be waddles? And one of my black ones is I'm guessing the only girl? Because she is always by herself while the other three play and run and flap around. She dosent have waddles and is the smallest. So if I have three guys and one girl what age do I start getting eggs? Anything will help!!:) ill upload pic ASAP
You will not be able to tell gender until they are older. Silkies are actually supposed to have blue ear lobes, and non-beardeds would show small waddles. A chick being solitary is more of a concern than a gender indicator. It might not be feeling well so I would give them some electrolytes to try to perk it up. Do you have any pics? Silkies don't start laying until they are older, they are late bloomers. Anywhere between 6-12 months

Hello BYC, love this website..just owned 3 silkies for the first time and I just love them soo much! They're 4 wks old now and I can't wait to see what they would look like as an adult. Actually, I want to know what kind do I really have. When I bought them from this breeder, she said that I have a blue silkie, a splash and a vaulted black silkie..? I'll try to post pictures to show, hopefully someone here can tell me what I have..thanks
P.S.
I'll try to get a good picture or a better one than these.

Can anyone tell me what colour these two are?
They were a result of two partridge parents. I don't know what happened but they are very pretty in 3D

This is my favourite partridge Coco

Uh, Coco doesn't look like a Partridge, she looks more like a buff or buff-blue.

Aww so cute =D You do have a black(vaulted skull just means he has that big dome on the top of his head), the last picture is the blue, the splash might actually be a light blue, I don't see any "splashing"

The vaulted skull is actually a hole in the skull according to Catdance Silkies. I am devastated to have hatched a chick with it. It is my first since I was a teen and I had no idea breeders had done this to a wonderful breed of bird. Catdance says that they prefer to get a large topnot by breeding for feather. If I get more Silkies. I will look to them.

Silkies have a soft skull anyway(like chihuahuas), but they bred them more like the polish to get a higher crest. It makes them more vulnerable to head injuries though. I like the look of vaulted skulled chicks.

I must correct my self. Hattrick. Not Catdance. It is wrong to breed poor health into an animal so it looks nice. Ever had to pay the vetbill on a dog suffering from a genetic condition caused by humans only to have to put it down to save it from suffering? Sometimes humans SUCK.
