Silkie thread!

I am having such a hard time with my Silkies. I have lost 6 out of 7. I life in Oklahoma and I make sure they're always warm at night, always have food and water, I've put ACV in their water, given them boiled eggs, yogurt, make sure they are able to get away from the light and I just keep losing them. Any suggestions? Also, If anyways on here is in Oklahoma or knows where I can order older chickens, that would be great!

How old are they ?? Any sort of symptoms before they die ? Are they from a breeder or hatchery ? So sad to lose so many...

The 1 Silkie I have left from my first batch is almost 2 weeks and the others are almost a week... No they haven't had any symptoms. Some have had pasty butts but when I cleaned them up, they no longer had problems. I ordered them from Ideal Poultry out of Texas. I know it, it breaks my heart :(

Try to put a little( nightlight

) in their coop and wait until full dark to check on them. The light will attract them. That is probably why they come up on the deck in the evenings, attracted to your light. I use a solar powered Christmas lights inside the baby coop.

We ordered a $10 solar light from amazon that does the trick for almost all of our silkies. We have a trio of porcelain that love to sleep on the ground though.

With Silkies I have found that what works for me is to leave all food inside the coop and don't help them out of the coop. They will go in and out to eat and will even go up a ramp eventually to their food (when they are finally trained). A little light inside the coop (like a battery powered or solar light) may help too.
Thanks so much for all the advice!!! This is what I love about this forum.

Photo bomb of my 8 silkies. They are 2 1/2 weeks old now.

This little lavender has a crooked middle toe on it's left foot, I just noticed. How soon should I tape it's little toes? It's a day old now.

And then there's little Spot, the easter egger chick. Spot hatched a week later than the other eggs under our broodies. Late bloomer, I guess.

All eggs were set at the same time...
Adorable! Look at the feather on number 3 - it's bigger than his foot!

Such a cutie pie.

LOVE #3's foot feathering! I believe you want to set the toe now or you may not be able to fix it.
I'll wait until tomorrow morning and see what the toes look like. If they're still curled, I'll be finding some sort of tape to fix it.

Yeah, these little babies have nice foot feathering, especially #3. That was probably the number 1 thing on my wishlist. lol My current birds do not have excellent foot feathers, some are pretty nice but not what I'd like to see. I'm hoping I'll get some good feet when these little guys grow up.

My two surviving chicks from my ill-fated hatch. they will be three months old wednesday. Looking pretty good

haven't convinced myself on gender yet. I think either a boy and a girl, or two girls. One has a definitely larger comb than the other, but no streamers or other signs yet. I guess only time will tell. I would really like one to be a male. I only have one now, and I would like a 'backup' just in case. I don't know what kind of bug they got, they still sneeze from time to time, but the rest of my silkie flock, with whom they were kept for a while, show no signs of it.

Hope they look like my favorite girl when they grow up

she looked very much like they do at that age.

I'm thinking the top one is a male, the bottom one is a female =D That stance of the top one definitely yells boy to me.
