Try www.bidbird.com sometimes you can find both Lav and Porcelain silkie chicks or adults being sold. Or is it www.birdbid.com?LOL I am not sure one of those.

Here is where all of this goes off the rails, getting eggs instead of birds. Yes, I'm fully aware of the cost involved since I have bought/sold and shipped myself. The problem is the eggs. I don't care if you are the best breeder on the planet you can not guarantee that what hatches is show quality because of all of the hidden genes. Depending how those genes come together you could end up with an awesome bird or one that is nothing more than a fun pet. Actually the chances of having show quality hatch is much less than most people realize.

If you sit back and do the math you will find that buying a good pair of birds is actually cheaper in the long run. By the time you buy eggs, incubate them and raise them to maturity is all part of the cost. And during all that time you can't be sure what they're going to turn out like.

I can't see your boy first hand but if he is black there are paint breeders that would probably want him. Don't fuss about the leakage, a silver leaking bird is preferable over one that leaks gold.

I'm new at this too don't worry we all have to start somewhere right? Just do your best that's all you can do and work on educating yourself not just asking questions but searching this forum and the internet for good sources and taking lots of notes. What I'm doing is keeping track of every detail I can with my birds and their breeding. I ask questions, lots of them when I'm buying eggs or birds that way I know for the furture things I think are important. For example I know my blacks came from Black x black breeding and I know where the blood line originated from. In the future I plan on breeding in pairs or trios so I can keep track of what offspring came from which parents.
Whites should only be bred with other whites technically so don't worry too much about them. Blacks are the same way but many put them in a BBS pen. The problem with breeding blacks with your BBS is said that you'll sacrifice the quality of your blacks also you might end up with some blues that are almost impossible to tell if they are black or blue without breeding them to judge from their offspring. I have some notes on genetics that I got from here from some of the most trusted sources IMHO. They go into a lot more detail than I can even start to cover here. If you can PM me if you're interested that will help me not forget so I can send it on over.
They might help you, I refer to them often.

I have no idea what color it will be. I have a pen that I keep young cockerels, non SQ hens ,frizzles, in for people that want pet silkies. I have to have someplace to store the cockerels until I decide if I am going to keep them right now in the pen is a splash ( may have some lav IDK ) whites and cuckoos ( of course ). white and black hens.
