i thought splash was just one color but the dots on them ... im not to good at the breeding to get colors with silkies ... i think my chick died because he was slept on by 2 bigger silkies maybe im not sure but she was a little slower then the other 2 ... do you or anyone else have a chart for all the colors i know a couple but not allI actually have two different shades of Silkie chicks at the moment, a light blue and a dark blue. As well as a blue splash...
You could very well be right, I think I refer to her as a blue because her base coloring looks blue with the darker splash of color. Not like a white with black splash of color if that makes sense. I've seen some splash silkies that are almost white with coloring "splashed" in them and I've seen some that are more grey, like mine. So I guess thats why I refer to her as a "blue" splash. But I should just be calling her a splash - especially since she is my only one! I wish I could get splash I find they are beautiful like all silkies are .. I have 2 partridge (chicks) their father partridge based partridge based and then a blue hen then a black hen and I can get white babies from her and then silver partridge rooster .. but the funny thing is they all have a defect but they are beautiful .. the B.B P.B rooster has a broken toe that's pointing behind him and then his mate has a tilt in her neck but it does not pass through her babies and then rudy my SP has a crooked beak .. the only normal one is rudys mate onyx oh and then I have a black chick and dark blue chickYou could very well be right, I think I refer to her as a blue because her base coloring looks blue with the darker splash of color. There are MANY colors of silkies, but the ones that are accepted are Blue, Black, Splash, White, Buff, Partridge, and Grey. There are project colors as well, the most prevelant being Porcelain and Lavender, and others such as Calico, mottled, and blue partridge. I am sure there are many others but those are the biggest. Splash is just splash, not "blue" splash. They range in background color, with the darker like yours being the most desired by judges I have asked. Mine was a super light silvery blue with dark blue splashes.
um... that's her crop.. also known as stomach =P if it's clear fluid she is drinking the water. DO NOT make her throw up she may aspirate the water and die. take away her water over night and see if it goes down in the morning. I would give them some vitamins and electrolytes though in their water once you put it back in. You should be able to get "sav-a-chick" at any feed store.HELP PLEASE>>> I picked up two chicks from a local breeder Sunday. I believe they are 2-3wks "a sizzle & a frizzle" both have 5 toes one has black skin the other white. The white skinned frizzle is doing great, very active and has already learned how to use the nipple waterer. Her companion now has a fluid filled sack the size of a small walnut on her chest. When I massage it she throw up clear no smelling water. She wont use the nipple waterer, she is eating she has no pasty butt, she has clear eyes. What ever this is on her chest is draining her though, she is not as active as the other. HELPPPP any advice is greatly appreciated.
