Silkie thread!

Count down 5 degrees per week from 95 the first week until you reach the ambient nighttime temperature.  You also had good advice on watching their behavior.  You could consder giving them a heat lamp at night....

I don't have electricity at the coop. It's suppose to stay in the fifties at night until Monday then its calling for lows at 48. I think they will be ok, I hate to mess their adjusting up by bringing them in. They will be seven weeks on Monday.

He seems to be getting better! He's nose is barely runny today! No sneezing! Other than when he drives his head into the feed and the dust from it makes him sneeze.

I was wondering what color I will get if I breed my white silkie hen to my buff silkie rooster? Or my splash rooster to my white hen? The only breeding specs I found on here was the splash, blue, blacks..and I only have buffs, white, splash and lavenders. Would like to get some pretty splash colors, paints, porcelain, etc. Thanks guys!! Oh and had a little scissor beak splash given to me. Anyone had good luck raising one??

no telling what you will get if you breed a white bird to any other color. White conceals other colors, so she could be hiding anything. You will get a mix of odd colors, and if you do get a few recognized colors they may not breed true in the future.

You can breed the buffs to the lavenders to have a porcelain project though

that would be so neat!! I'll have to put my lavender hens in with my buff rooster then!! How pretty they will turn out!! Thanks for the advice!!

Here are more pictures of my newest Silkie babies. They were hatched a week ago Sat.

This one is real fuzzy, head seems bigger than usual. Anyway I've named he/she Grizzly. I think it"ll be a partridge like it's daddy.

This is my little Showgirl. She looks white here but is actually a very pale grey. Named her Jewel.

Group shot. Really hard to get all 10 in one picture.
