I do have a question for you Silkie folks that have owned their Silkies alot longer than I have. What is a variety that not many people work with? After I get some Partridge hatched out I would like to work on another variety but one that not many work with.

Buff is probably one of them, cause there are hard color to work with.

Whites are the main variety I raise. I've had them all but kept going back to the white. I've also now gotten paints, that one is going to be a challenge even though there are a lot of us with them now.

I like the whites and have a little white chick who I think is a pullet. I'm getting a couple new varieties of Ameraucana and want to keep them even in numbers. But I have to say I LOVE my Blue Partridge!

I can't resist posting a picture of my 7 adult silkies in one nest box! What a pile of fur!!!!! It was dusk and they all decided this was "the place" to be. The winner, of course, is the one in the furthest back corner and underneath the most bodies. In this case it was my Lavender Rooster "Gabriel" (see back right corner). I guess he missed the class on, "Must Protect your girls at all times".

I think they are adorable!

That is seriously cute.

A question:

Has anyone been down to one silkie before and given it a mirror? I've posted about mine recently and she is doing great right now but she is alone until she gets a clean bill of health. She was clucking around the other day and my boyfriend put a mirror in her cage to look at and it seems to entertain her and has minimized what I can only think of as, "Hey, I'm alone in here and don't want to be" noises.

Just wondering.

Thanks.

Absolutely! A mirror and a stuffed animal or a feather duster for the baby to cuddle with.

Great! I wonder if the kiddo will part with an unused toy. It makes me happy when we do the right thing without looking it up first!
