Silkie thread!

Okay so I went out this morning and my little hyperactive white silkie is lethargic. Gasping for air, and is holding her wings out. I gave her a bit of poly vi sol and put her back under her mother. The only change I made out there was letting the momma dust bathe. I used wood ash and our normal run sand. Not alot of wood ash. She was fine last evening. THey are in the barn. It got pretty cold last night but they are in with momma. I really want to save her. I don't know what else to do for her. She alomst seems aspirated, and weak from gasping. I have poultry drench and poly vi sol and electrolites in my arsenal. Should I get some kind of antibiotics? I don't want the other chicks getting it too.

I am sad. We had our first hawk attack. Buddy seems to be ok because my hubby was able to break it up. Then it was weird in all the ruckus my hubby found some of my girls eggs out of the nest cold and broken. I don't know what happen !!! :(:(:(. The egg are suppose to start hatching any day now. I hope I have just a couple of babies. I was so excited and now just sad :(:(:(

Hope buddy gets his nerves steady and you can still pull a hatch from the surviving eggs.

I am just not good at information about illness.............but if she were at my house............I would bring her in and put a heat lamp on her.
Also, notice you have not received responses............( maybe folks do not know what to do )
Please post under disease and illness thread. I hope things go well for you and your chick..............

Dust and mould can trigger upper respitory symptoms. Remove the dust, make up a batch of scrambled egg and add some Greek yoghurt to make a nice soft mash. If the breathing doesn't settle , then I would consider antibiotics.

Advice needed.

ivwent to let my two chickens silkies out this morning and too came out but hen didn't. I got her out and put her down and she doesn't really move. She does move but looks in pain.

I also felt two hale sized things in her crop. Its hard not squishy or food.

she is only a year in a few months.

I put her inside and opened the door to let her out to fly and when she landed she didn't really land well.

she's never acted like this. Help

could the rooster hurt her. I've had him for a bit over a month and he's been wih her for a week or too. He's been fine with her.

when she cleans her behind or feathers she almost falls over.

Thank you. They are inside in a brooder. The little white one died. There is another little one not doing great. I have them on a water mixture of poly- vi-sol, electrolytes, and durymicin 10. It was very fast. No bloody stool. Just some kind of respiratory illness.

. That was very quick, the panting and wings down aren't necessarily CRD
Do you have them on medicated feed? Cocci will kill very quickly. Sometimes The breathing and wings down are simply their way of showing distress .
