Silkie thread!

Ok, I am going to cry, :hit   one of my silkie chicks has scissor beak... I just noticed it last night and it's very slight, but after reading all the posts on scissor beak it sounds like it's going to get worse.  This was the first chick that hatched, always runs right up to me when I open the cage (they were a week old on Tuesday).  UGH.  I am hoping it does ok, but realistic enough to know it probably is going to get worse.
I know what you're feeling, one of my chicks that hatched out in October has horrible issues with that, I trim the beak and put electrolytes in the water, but the reality is his crop is almost entirely empty 24/7. He is the sweetest chicken out of everyone I have, and I am very upset and I just don't know what to do. He acts fine but he can't be comfortable, but I'm still hoping he can stick it out :/ but yes when he hatched he had no issues, but the older he got, the worse it got.

I'm sorry :hit i wish I knew what to tell you but Im lucky enough to never have had that yet but good luck and I hope your chickie is ok

I often say that if I put an emu egg in the silkie pen it would start an all out brawl over who was going to sit on it.
I packed my incubator up this summer and put all my broody silkies to work. May as well put them to work if they are going to sit round doing nothing anyway.
Yes they are perfect little incubators.

OMG that is too funny! Mine have been taking the easter eggs I have in the nest box and laying on them when I take out their own eggs. So funny!

I had 2 chicks hatch with crooked beak aka sissor beak and at about 3-4 months old both my girls beaks were normal and they got 4th and 5th at a show don't give up but you have trim their beak

It's day 3/4 (?) here and I have visual development in almost all of my eggs. One had a blood ring (so I removed it), two had dark spots, but im not sure whats up with that. (The dark spots were where the egg was dirty on the outside) A few appeared to be clear but not quite infertile, so I left those in there. One egg was Cracked from the aquarium thermometer dropping on it,but still has good development going on so i left it alone.
This is so exciting!

Oops wrong thread,it's good here to though.
