Silkie thread!

Here he (I call him Gandalf Greyham

) is with another whiter chick. He is in the center. The photos don't show the greyness of him, but he is a light grey. Anyway, it was just a curiosity I had. I had read here that Silkies go through some color changes when feathering out, so was just wondering. Thanks for your input!

But you need two copies of lavender to have visibly lavender chicks. Both parents need to carry lavender.

Could the chick that looks lav be light blue?

That could be possible i'v been told by a few good silkie breeder they looked lav. I also have been told that my roo may not be brown/red but a lav split.

I have a question for the silkie experts...I have my birds separated into quads. I am getting some really weird partridge birds from one of my pens. I have a partridge roo, 2 partridge hens and a white hen in this particular pen. I am getting white chicks with partridge markings...is this normal??? Do you have any idea what this kid will look like all grown up???

Whatever it is...I think it's cute as pie!!!

I have silver gene whites in my white breeding program, and these hatch out looking silver (like a splash or a lavender) but feather in white. I find that these birds are less prone to yellowing.
