I kind of over spoil her she's only child mom left us when she was 3 months old then 3 years ago her mom died of drug over dose :-( my kido didn't know her but had her attend funeral anyway just for closure but shes my baby only one I ever plan on having so she says I want and I get within reason
Yes. We had a ramp, like we've used for our other chickens, but the Silkies didn't really use it well, so we changed it today. We usually have to go out every night and put up the 2 Silkies and the Cochin rooster. Tonight, EVERYONE was inside roosting already! Yay!! Lol I've only had them about 3 weeks, so its still a learning experience. Thank goodness for BYC!
I buried our darkest Silkie hen, Friday. I think she was one of our original Silkies, which would make her about six years old. How old do Silkies usually live? We have eleven Silkies, including two roos that get along just fine. We're getting usually two eggs a day, enough for my husband's breakfast. I have no idea who is laying and who isn't and we really don't care--they're pets.
Thank you Sanna and Subhanalah for all that info! SilkieMom8875 I would love to buy some from you! Do you have any pictures? Are they chicks or older? I know it's hard to tell the sex when their chicks so if I get a roo it's all good. I would much rather prefer to buy from an individual and not a factory (hatchery). I am not downing hatcheries but our family is vegetarian and I just get nervous with big corporations/breeding quality and sickness![]()
Here is my youngest with "Princess Bubblegum" our Barred Rock chick![]()

I've found this to be true in all my EE chicks. The boys are always sweet and personable, seeking your affection. It's really sad because I can't keep themIf you can have roos they are so sweet and won't go broody on you every 3 months LOL! They do crow and can be from hardly audible to very loud. But a lot of breeders need homes for beautiful roos and they are really sweeter than the girls IMO.
