Silkie thread!

I've found this to be true in all my EE chicks. The boys are always sweet and personable, seeking your affection. It's really sad because I can't keep them :(

So true, my little Walter came up to me , jumped up and fell asleep in my arms. Of course now I need to find a place for another roo.

Good morning silkie folks!
I just wanted to drop a line to reintroduce myself. It's been over three years since I was last active on here, I used to go by cheshiechick13 (totally forgot my old password as well as the password to the email that account was linked to LOL). I had a beautiful flock of lavs and they were all massacred by a large dog early one morning. It was a mess of a situation. they were cooped and the dog got his big head in there and popped the door. Ironically I ended up marrying said dog owner (dog was immediately re-homed after that mess). Love my husband... not a fan of his former dog. I have been on a three year hiatus from chickens, I was so discouraged after that. I had spent so much time and money on those birds, I just gave it up after that. I guess I needed some time from that awful situation.
Well I'm back. I have 14 silkie eggs in the bator due to hatch on Monday (crossing fingers). If all goes well I'll have some Lav splits, buff lav splits, buffs, porcelains and even paints

Good morning!

Watch out - your DH will take over caring for Silkies. My DH is more sensitive about our girls' care than I ever thought possible! When our Marans came to us she was laying fertile eggs and he didn't want to kill potential chicks and made me give them to our friend to hatch under her broody! 5 out of 6 hatched. He was so pleased with himself for saving 5 lives LOL

He already has my child may get mouthy from time to time and I might complain about it but at end of night I remember I am raising a young woman who is strong and will stand up for herself in any unreasonable situation even if its to her father

Fathers leave a lasting impression on daughters that get stronger as years roll by. In my case my Pop was a pure-breed livestock and pure-breed dog lover and to this day I only deal with heritage chicken breeds or pure breed dogs/cats. Love all animals no matter what but that's just a little quirk he left with me. Also he spent occasional evenings with me during the grade school years doing homework and having me read books to him - what patience! He also sat me on his lap to reach the table as he taught me to read, write and speak a foreign language as well as English and spoke to me like another adult - I never felt talked "down" to because I was a girl. And he set an expectation and a parameter in education for me to follow. Even when Dads think they're not the best - little do they realize the impressions they leave on their children. He was not my playmate or my buddy but was my Parent. Kids have plenty of playmates but feel secure having parameters/limits set by a Parent. As kids we try and test our Parents' teachings but ultimately in our adulthood come to embrace their wisdom.

If both parents are white, all chicks hatched would be white.
