Silkie thread!

Take a good torch with you and candle the eggs. Relocation can be very stressful on adult birds and it's a real gamble moving her while she's on eggs. Do you have any idea how long she has been sitting? If they have pipped internally and you so much as roll them over they will drown. I would be inclined to find out how developed they are and if they not far from hatching arrange to pick them up once they have. On the other hand , if she has just begun sitting they may not even be viable.
Thanks so much for responding. That is a good advice. Here is the issue. I first agreed to rescue this girl 3 weeks ago. I live 2+ hours from where she is currently housed. My contact person told me at the time that she thought that the eggs were on day 11. Figuring it would be best if I waited to pick her up until they hatched I committed to picking her up this week.

My contact has been less than communicative throughout this whole process failing to respond to repeated messages and has said many things which have lead me to believe she really doesn't know what she is talking about like this:

In the original ad "Whoever takes her will get all of her kids too or eggs if they haven't hatched"
She said she didn't know when the hen started setting because "she hadn't candled recently"

She told me "I don't know what happened to all her eggs she is down to four." This was a week ago
Yesterday it was "No chicks but a ton of eggs"

All of this makes me wonder if the hen truly is broody hence my question.

I did some sleuthing with the information I had and found out that my contact was a former employee at the site where the hen is currently living. I did an end run around the contact and as a result I am picking up my girl today.

At this point I just want to get this silkie girl out of there and get her home with me. Any chicks that survive will be icing on the cake. If none turn out to be viable and she is/remains broody I can give her some eggs from my girls.

My intent was to candle a few days after I have her home for a few days. I have a crate all ready and hope I can pick her up nest and all and stick her in it. I will cover the crate with a dark blanket and be on my way. Then when I get home everyone will go directly into the quarantine area. I will keep you posted and I am sure have more questions. Thanks for taking the time with this one!

Well you are to be commended for your efforts. If you confine her so that she cannot leave the eggs you may increase your chances of a hatch. I would try to source a loan incubator just in case.
Good luck with your rescue. Try to travel the eggs as they are.

I give up. My blue baby I made booties for and was trying everything I could think of to save, died this morning :( Its just so discouraging when ive lost three babies now in less then a week.
