Later this year my great grandpa is going to hatch some ofmy silkies eggs i was thinking about adding an egg from each of my other hens. I was wondering if anyone had experience with the following crosses or even pictures!? Black silkie roo would be the father of all silkie x red laced white cornish, silkie x blue wyandotte, silkie x redish colored easter egger. I would love to hear about your eoxperiences with these crosses and pictures would be great! If you have had experiences with these crosses but different colors i would love to hear about them.

I couldn't even come across one in a batch of 5 straight run chicks which all turned out to be roos that I can't even seem to give away.
I thought I would at least get a couple pullets out of it, but apparently they defied odds.

I never buy anything but juveniles where at 2-3 months it is generally a good idea what sex they are. Or you can pay the $25 lab fees to identify chicks but it will take 4 or more weeks to get results - so we just wait to get identifiable juveniles. Less heartache that way when you have to give the roos away - they can be so sweet.

I have four silkies around 16 weeks old. I am thinking three roos and one hen. But I have had the conversation with them, if they behave, they can stay...hope they are listening..

At maturity the roos will wear out your little princess pullet. Not only that but you don't want siblings to breed. That's why we had to re-home our sweet little roo who had too much fun jumping his little sister!

I don't know whether they are siblings or not, they are all from the same breeder, but she had a couple of roos and several hens. And I am holding out on deciding whether Clem and FeFe are male or female. I am new to silkies and unlike cochin, determining sex is a bit more challenging. And I would hate to give away two beautiful silkies and later find out they were hens.

I have tried to take pics to share and get advice, but they haven't turned out very well....They are between 14 and 16 weeks. This is FeFe..

And this is Clem..

My new babies. I believe they are around 8 weeks old. There should be 2 hens & 1 cock. What's the best way of telling the sex at this age?

Hello all. One of my silkies is crowing! But I don't know which one!!! I can't catch him in the act!

I have and idea of the genders of my 2, but want your expert opinions please! ETA - they are approximately 11 weeks old.

Here is Brownie:

And here is Coco:

Thanks!
